Vigil guard The vigil guard refers to a ceremony in Singapore where commissioned officers from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and Singapore Police Force (SPF) stand guard during the public lying in state after the death of a person who is given a state funeral by the Singapore government. The ceremony is similar to the Vigil of the Princes in the United Kingdom. Vigil guards were stationed at the wake of Goh Keng Swee, a former Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, in May 2010. Vigil guards were deployed at the lying in state of Lee Kuan Yew, the first Prime Minister of Singapore, at Parliament House from 25–28 March 2015. On the first day, the first round of the vigil guard was performed by Lieutenant-General Ng Chee Meng (Chief of Defence Force), Major-General Perry Lim (Chief of Army), Rear-Admiral Lai Chung Han (Chief of Navy), Major-General Hoo Cher Mou (Chief of Air Force), and Brigadier-General Chia Choon Hoong (Chief of Staff, Joint Staff). == See also ==
